In the current system the government can use tax incentives to encourage businesses to pursue policies which are in the national interest. Would the restructuring of the tax system remove the ability of the government to do this?
Given that VAT comes into play when goods are purchased, wouldn't industries such as the car industry (God bless them) suffer in comparison to sectors such as finance or insurance which don't depend on the purchasing of goods or parts?
Is there a danger that the basic income could be abolished by a future government and would the fear of this lead to the same pressure we have today to save money and to work as a necessity?
Is there a danger that over time, the basic income would fall in value as it could increase at a lower rate than inflation, in the same way that child benefit has done?
Would the basic income vary for different sectors of the population for example the elderly, the handicapped, immigrants, children...?
